Hi guys, I am so excited to let you know that my Prints are now available in a large range of sizes to suit your desires! I will be hosting a competition soon where you will have the opportunity to WIN YOUR OWN LARGE PRINT… more info coming soon.
Here is a sneak peek of the different sizes now available:
Some very exciting news to be announced… my beautiful piece “A Drop of Enchantment” has been short listed for the Annual BLUETHUMB Australian Art Competition. The top 100 can be found here.
Here’s hoping for some great success in this exciting competition. Finalists will be selected on the 4th November.
Some exciting new aviator paintings are currently in the evolutionary phase on easels in the art studio. My paintings are evolving a little slower than they have previously but with a little more delight and magic. Time is a precious thing and so is health and so I am trying to learn to devote a little time to all aspects of my life where my attention is needed. But despite this I am still very excited to be bringing you more and more paintings and composited photographs that bring warmth and delight to your soul and a smile to your face.
Behind the scenes I am also currently designing a new range of labels for a local business and their product range. This is a very exciting project and I can’t wait to lift the veil on this incredible collaboration.
Oh yes! It had been a while since my last post… there has been holidays and construction going on all over the place and I have been leaping over hurdles left, right and center to keep the wheels turning. Sometimes, I feel as though my hopes and dreams to produce and sell my art are absolutely soaring with success and others, I feel as though these same dreams have been shot down or snatched from the sky. I guess it is the same with all businesses and maybe that is what has inspired this latest piece “Flight Cancelled”
This piece has been entered into the Clayton UTZ Art Award, which is held annually. It is exciting to be a part of this competition and I hope to be selected as a finalist again, as I was last year for this particular painting which then sold through that competition audience:
Now available as a limited edition print through my ETSY store.
I absolutely love the simplicity of the raw linen background of this piece.
In other news, hold onto your goggles Aviation fans as there is talk of a hole new series of “Young Aviator” paintings to come your way! I am excited to launch these when I can and am planning some exciting props for this series including more goggles and aviation hats as well as shopping trolleys and smoke emitters … I will be sure to post mini detail pics of these as they are in production AND there might even be a video to go with it!
AND for those who have been patiently awaiting for the second part to the “Painting a black and White Portrait” Course, I promise I will finish editing the how to video soon, ready for you to complete this course. I have loved seeing what you have created so far and I am really proud of all of your efforts.
Farewell for now… I am off up the mountain for some exercise before I hibernate in the studio for a few more hours!

I am donating one of my brand new, Limited Edition Fine Art Composited Prints:
Tara Spicer – ‘Tales Untold’
Size: approx: 80 x 60cm
Archival Ink Printed to Fine Art Rag
Matted and frame
This print “Tales Untold” is based on the yet untold adventures of the life of my daughter. I find it amazing to look ahead into her future and wonder what experiences she might have and how life may unfold for her. I am scared for her and excited for her and I hope that life is kind to her and that it is packed with so much love and friendship and delight and strength and empowerment and oh so much more… but despite the hopes that I grip firmly in my hand and heart… in reality, it is all unknown and it is hers alone, to journey through.
This particular piece features my daughter, herself… a cat that lives near the local primary school that comes to say goodmorning most mornings and a Rainbow Bee Eater that nests at Yaroomba Parklands. I feature only locals and people who have personally crossed my path within all of my works. It is important to me to include locals within this magical process to enable others to see themselves in a completely new way. To me , this adds value to the piece for both its added locally based roots as well as making the life of another a little exciting.
I am also donating an original oil painting… the last of my own stock!
Some of these paintings, I never thought i would part with as I imagined they would stay in our family, but I feel that it is better to add fortitude to an opportunity to pass solution, relief and happiness on to others who are in need! And that is exactly what the money raised through the art auction enables.
To Add to the excitement of this month… one of my works has been featured in Art Edit Magazine!:
This art magazine is packed full of art investment advice, articles on fantastic Australian artists (this month one of our own locals’ Lisa Lee is featured as well), tips on hanging works and insights into current artists and exhibitions. This is my favorite art magazine and I highly recommend putting a pot of tea on before you immerse yourself within its’ pages because you will be there for a while!
You can get your own copy of this Month’s Issue now at Newsagents throughout Australia.
Well… she was all packed to go, so I guess it should not be so hard to say good-bye to this beautiful oil painting “Breathing Space”! Yes, she was purchased at the opening of the Brisbane Rotary Arts Spectacular. I wish her well on her journey. I am pretty proud of this piece, it is extra special to me given that I was the model for this particular composition…
“Breathing Space”… I have been doing so much packing and moving and culling of possessions and setting up of prized possessions and articles of clothing of late. It has been at times exhausting and at times quite liberating. I find it interesting to take note of what it is that I keep, that I hold dear. My mum had recently given me an extremely old box of stuff that was wrapped in newspaper of the day, which I promptly put into storage without even glimpsing at. To now have the time to go through this box… I find that she has kept and carefully wrapped clay figures that I had made probably 30 years ago! Along with drawings I had done and books filled with writing and school projects. Yes, through all of my culling, these are the things that I have chosen to hold dear. As I handle them, I am instantly taken back to the time that I first made them or drew them. I find it interesting that it is such a strong connection to my past and who I was as a kid and who I wanted to be when I grew up! It is this ‘knowing’, that I have become the person that I wanted to become, the mother that I wanted to be, the artist that I dreamed of becoming… that gives me breathing space. I am relieved. I can stop trying so hard and start enjoying the present. Sometimes our journey through life can be so hard, that we feel that we just want to keep our head in the clouds, not stick too close to reality, keep daydreaming and imagining up fantastical stories and adventures. Sometimes we feel as though we secretly might need to have our bags packed, ever at the ready, in case the wind changes direction and takes our mind or heart with it. But sometimes, just sometimes, the wind settles and the clouds clear and the breathing space that we need…. is right here at home. How nice.

I am now offering online workshops that you can check out here.
If you got this far down the text… thankyou so much for taking the time to read… I hope that you enjoyed what I had to share. I would love to hear from you if you would like to share your thoughts on what brings you your own personal sense of Breathing Space.
I have been really busy recently, nervously getting myself ready for a Photography Workshop with the beautiful Brooke Shaden, which is being held in Melbourne later this week, as well as launching my online Black & White Portrait painting classes.
During the live Skills Sessions held at my art studio, that these online sessions are based on, I have enjoyed guiding small groups of students step by step through creating their own life like portraits.
As I demonstrated the techniques to be put to use, I was able to create my own Portrait as a guide for those attending. This was so awesome, because it is a rare opportunity for me to be able to just enjoy painting for the sake of painting as opposed to creating a series of works for Gallery representation.
The sense of relief was grand and I think eminent in the feeling that comes across in the finished piece. I love its rough edges and deep eyes and I especially love the freckles:
The following is an image of the finished piece in full:
At just $20 you can sign in for the first part of this course. If you would like to take part in this online course please fill in the form below to join in the fun!
I am so proud to present my newest series of works at Lethbridge Gallery in Brisbane, Australia. Here is a little teaser for you of one of the paintings from the series:
Flight Class 101
30″ x 40″
Oil on Raw Gallery Linen
Warming, spacious… a little nostalgic… who didn’t love making paper planes as a kid and who isn’t besotted with the freedom of flight? This kid is learning from two Rainbow Bee-Eaters’… the best in the business.
This series took more than six months of work. At the same time, our home was being renovated!!! Thankfully, I was still able to immerse myself into the creative world to escape the scaffolding and steady flow of people and crumbling ceiling plaster… I did begin to create some interesting ideas during the renovation phase though… I wonder what the next series will be based on?
Prints available upon request, prices according to size required. Hopefully I will be blogging again soon… This is a new product that I am very excited to offer! I look forward to your feedback… please be gentle as this work, in particular “Under Construction”, is a self-portrait! Love-tiques much appreciated.
